Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating Season Two with a wave of new content! Get ready for new characters, a fresh map, and exciting challenges. Plus, exclusive rewards await those who tune into the new episodes.
Netflix's surprise holiday release of Squid Game: Unleashed, a free-to-play battle royale game based on the hit Korean drama, was a bold move. Now, with this Season Two update, they're cleverly incentivizing both subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
What's in store for existing players? Starting January 3rd, a new map inspired by the Season Two mini-game "Mingle" drops. Playable avatars Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos (not the Marvel villain!) will also debut throughout January.
Geum-Ja and Thanos will each have special in-game events on January 3rd and 9th respectively, offering ways to unlock them. But that's not all! Watching episodes of Squid Game Season Two unlocks in-game Cash and Wild Tokens. Watching up to seven episodes even grants you the exclusive Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's the January content roadmap for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: The Mingle map arrives alongside Geum-Ja. Participate in the Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event (until January 9th) featuring Mingle-inspired mini-games and Dalgona tin collection.
- January 9th: Thanos enters the game with his own recruitment event, the Thanos’ Red Light Challenge (until January 14th). Eliminate players with knives to earn him.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the fray as the final character addition in this update.
Squid Game: Unleashed might just be a game-changer for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The free-to-play model was a risk, but rewarding Netflix subscribers while driving viewership is a clever strategy that could significantly benefit both the game and the show.
