Battlefront 3 Demand Grows as Andor Actor Joins Calls

There's renewed momentum behind the campaign for a new Star Wars Battlefront game, fueled by an actor from the acclaimed series Andor.

Last month, players flocked back to 2017's Star Wars Battlefront 2, pushing the game's Steam player count to its highest level in years despite the developer, DICE, having ended official support long ago.

Muhannad Ben Amor, who portrays the hero Wilmon Paak in Andor, has now added his voice to the cause, taking to social media to rally support for a full-fledged sequel.

"Star Wars gotta give us Battlefront 3 ASAP," Amor posted on Instagram (via Comicbook), sharing that he's logged 469 hours in Battlefront 2. That's impressive, but don't let it go to your head.

"Grew up with Battlefront 2 — been a veteran since day one," Amor continued. "Let's HOPE Battlefront 3 happens."

Interest in Star Wars Battlefront 2 has surged over the past month, coinciding with the climax of Andor's second season and other Star Wars events tied to the annual May 4th celebrations.

After years of averaging around 2,000 concurrent players on Steam, the game's player base has grown steadily in recent weeks and is now nearing its all-time peak of 10,000 concurrent users.

Does this growing interest make Star Wars Battlefront 3 more likely? For the moment, DICE is fully focused on developing its next major Battlefield title, aiming for a strong launch. An official reveal for the still-untitled Battlefield game, which is currently in player testing, is anticipated this summer.

DICE might still be hesitant to revisit the Battlefront series, given the major controversy surrounding Battlefront 2's initial launch and its loot box system. Over time, however, public opinion of the game has improved significantly. While publisher EA is no longer the sole developer of Star Wars games, its studio Respawn continues to work on a sequel to the Star Wars Jedi series set in that galaxy far, far away.

"Star Wars Battlefront 2 tells a redemption story worthy of the Skywalker saga," noted IGN in its 2019 re-review. "Today, it offers a complete package and stands as one of the most thrilling and authentic Star Wars gaming experiences available."
