When I first caught a glimpse of the Extradimensional Crisis trailer, it instantly transported me back to the Sun and Moon era — that magical time when I truly began appreciating how wild and imaginative the Pokémon TCG could be.
The Ultra Beasts returning in Pocket with their bizarre designs and otherworldly energy brought back memories of opening Crimson Invasion packs and wondering which interdimensional creature had just leapt out at me. It was chaotic, unpredictable, and absolutely amazing. So, let’s take a nostalgic trip down memory lane to Alola and revisit some of my favorite cards from the Sun and Moon series.

It echoes the unpredictability of Forbidden Light, the vibrant flash of Ultra Prism, and the shiny overload of Hidden Fates.

Cosmic Eclipse marked the end of the Sun and Moon era with something truly special — Character Rares. The Arceus, Dialga, and Palkia GX card laid out on a trade table looked absolutely legendary. Rosa's Full Art exuded quiet strength, while the Pikachu Character Rare brought a genuine smile to my face the first time I saw it. These cards had a warmth and charm unlike anything else in the series.

Dropping in August 2019, Hidden Fates completely rewrote the hype scale. The Shiny Vault was stacked with treasures. Shiny Charizard GX stood as the crown jewel — a card I never pulled but saw someone open at a local shop, causing the whole table to freeze in awe. I opened a few packs myself and landed a Shiny Rowlet, which made me realize just how deep this rabbit hole really went.
Unified Minds
### Raichu & Alolan Raichu GX 241/236
$199.50 at TCG Player
### Dragonite GX 248/236
$151.29 at TCG Player
### Mewtwo & Mew GX 242/236

### Raichu & Alolan Raichu GX 221/236
$200.64 at TCG Player
### Mega Sableye & Tyranitar GX 226/236
$284.96 at TCG Player
Unified Minds kept the momentum going strong. Mewtwo & Mew GX felt like a fan fiction crossover that somehow worked. While I never owned it, I’ve played against it enough times to know its power firsthand. Slowpoke & Psyduck GX initially made me laugh, then quickly made me nervous once I realized what they were capable of. And don’t forget about Cherish Ball — a staple card that flew under the radar but became essential in many decks.

### Marshadow & Machamp GX 199/214
