Team Rocket Glory Prices Plummet: What to Buy Now

Author : Oliver Update:May 25,2025

While we eagerly await the release of Destined Rivals in the US on May 30, collectors have a golden opportunity to dive into the Japanese Glory of Team Rocket sets. The initial frenzy has subsided, and prices are plummeting, making it an ideal time to grab those coveted singles.

This isn't just a typical post-release dip; it's a combination of increased stock availability and savvy investors moving on to newer sets. This shift makes buying individual cards a more cost-effective choice compared to risking high-priced sealed boxes. Here's why now is the perfect time for US collectors to invest in singles from the Glory of Team Rocket set.

TL;DR: Single Card Prices Are Crashing

### Glory of Team Rocket Booster Box

4$146.99 at TCG Player### Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex - 125/098

2$370.77 at TCG Player### Team Rocket's Moltres ex - 124/098

1$163.00 at TCG Player### Team Rocket's Crobat ex - 127/098

1$107.00 at TCG Player### Team Rocket's Nidoking ex - 126/098

1$99.00 at TCG PlayerTake a look at the current prices of Japanese booster boxes for the Glory of Team Rocket set; they're still well over double their original shelf price. We haven't seen such inflated prices since the 151 set, but there's hope on the horizon for resolving stock shortages in the Pokémon TCG worldwide.

Consider Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex SIR, which was listed at around $500 on April 20th but has now plummeted to approximately $370.77 in just a few days. This is a clear sign of market correction.

Team Rocket's Moltres ex SIR has also seen a notable drop, going from sales around $250 to $163—a decrease of $87 in about a week. These rapid price declines indicate that more scalpers are exiting the market, reducing the artificial inflation seen at release.

0$12.99 at TCG PlayerIt's not just about the high-end chase cards; the Glory of Team Rocket set's Super Rare ex and Hyper Rare ex variants are visually stunning and often overlooked. This presents a great opportunity for collectors like us.

The demand is evident with cards like Team Rocket's Mewtwo Super Rare ex, which has increased in value by over $6 since release, now at $38.75. These cards, featuring full-color Pokémon with trainer outlines in the background, are inspired by the Journey Together art style and definitely worth picking up.

It seems there's a special allure to Mewtwo cards, but Team Rocket's Nidoking Super Rare ex is holding steady at $12.94 after dropping from $26. This iconic card appeals to fans of the first generation and anime enthusiasts, showcasing a menacing look that's sure to appreciate over time. The same can be said for Moltres and Crobat—buy them now and watch their value grow.

Best Team Rocket Trainer Cards

0$17.10 at TCG Player### Team Rocket's Proton - 123/098

0$15.00 at TCG PlayerThe nostalgia factor is strong with Generation One and Two cards, particularly with Giovanni and Ariana. Giovanni, the mastermind behind Team Rocket in Kanto, and Ariana, the interim boss in Johto, evoke powerful memories for fans.

Data on Giovanni 129/098 is limited, but it features Team Rocket's leadership alongside the boss himself. It's expected to hold its value around the $17 mark, so any listing below that is a steal. A general rule for this set: if it involves Giovanni or Mewtwo, expect to pay a premium.

Team Rocket's Ariana 128/098, with its stunning artwork variant, currently fetches between $17 and $18. Given the set's recent release, it's too early to fully gauge its value, but any listing under $18 is a good find right now.

0$3.41 at TCG PlayerThe Scarlet and Violet era boasts some of the best artwork in illustration rares and art rares. These cards are not only visually striking but also affordable, making them some of the most underrated in the TCG. If you're aiming to build a collection that's both beautiful and valuable, these are the cards to focus on.

Currently, Team Rocket's Meowth 109/098 stands out, priced at around $19.25—a drop of nearly $20 since the set's launch. The iconic connection between Meowth and Team Rocket is undeniable (though the absence of Jessie and James in this set is puzzling). This card seems to be on a downward trend, so any price below $20 is a fantastic deal.

Blaziken 101/098 is another card that's unexpectedly crashing. Its stunning artwork and fan-favorite status from Generation Three should make it a rising star. With its Infernal Legs attack, dealing 120 damage to the opponent's active and benched Pokémon, this card could secure two prize cards in one turn, hinting at its potential for future value appreciation.

If you're set on opening Glory of Team Rocket boosters despite their cost and the limited five-card count of Japanese packs, go for it. However, the real bargains are in the single cards. Keep in mind that the prices mentioned here are accurate at the time of writing, and stock availability may fluctuate on TCG Player's live secondary marketplace. That's part of the thrill! If you missed out on the Charizard Sam's Club deal, it's worth checking back to see if it's still available.
