The Capcom Pro Tour has taken a pause, and the lineup for Capcom Cup 11 is set with all 48 participants ready to compete. While the focus is often on the players, let's shift our attention to the Street Fighter 6 characters they've chosen to represent them on the global stage.
Following the conclusion of the World Warrior circuit, EventHubs provided a detailed breakdown of the most popular characters at the top level of play. This analysis serves as a reliable indicator of the game's current balance. Remarkably, every one of the 24 available fighters made an appearance among the nearly 200 players surveyed, which included the top eight finalists from 24 regions. Interestingly, only one player opted for Ryu, while the recently introduced Terry Bogard was chosen by two competitors.
On the professional scene, Cammy, Ken, and M. Bison emerge as the top picks, each being the primary choice for 17 players. A noticeable gap separates these frontrunners from the next tier, where Akuma has been selected by 12 players, followed by Ed and Luke, both with 11 players, and JP and Chun-Li, each chosen by 10. Among the less favored characters, Zangief, Guile, and Juri still managed to be the main picks for seven players each.
Capcom Cup 11 is slated to take place in Tokyo this March, with the champion set to take home a staggering prize of one million dollars. As the event approaches, it will be fascinating to see how these character selections influence the strategies and outcomes at the tournament.
