Get ready for the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova! Black and White Kyurem and Shiny Meloetta are making their debut. This guide details how to obtain and fuse Kyurem's powerful alternate forms.
Kyurem's Alternate Forms Arrive
Following the December 2024 announcement, Niantic has confirmed the arrival of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta in the February 2025 Unova Tour. In-person event attendees in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA (February 21-23, 2025) can participate in five-star raids to capture Kyurem and then fuse it.
Kyurem Fusion:
To fuse Kyurem, you'll need:
- Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy (learns Freeze Shock)
- White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy (learns Ice Burn)
Fusion Energy is earned by defeating Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversion to the base form is free. Shiny Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom have increased encounter rates during the event.
Global Event and Shiny Meloetta:
The Pokémon GO Tour: Unova - Global event (March 1-2, 2025) offers a ticketless opportunity for all trainers to participate. Ticket holders at the in-person events can complete a Masterwork Research to encounter Shiny Meloetta. This research doesn't expire, allowing completion at your own pace.
Iconic Unova Legendaries:
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation. Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, capable of learning Ice Burn and Freeze Shock, mirroring their Pokémon GO counterparts.
