Fresh on the heels of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Koei Tecmo has launched another exciting title today, redefining the musou genre with Warriors: Abyss. This new roguelite game features beloved characters from the Warriors series, offering fans a unique twist on the action-packed gameplay they love.
Showcased during today's PlayStation State of Play, Warriors: Abyss allows players to form a squad and battle through relentless waves of enemies. The game adopts an isometric camera angle, drawing inspiration from games like Diablo and the Greek mythology-based roguelite, Hades.
In Warriors: Abyss, you'll lead your team through the depths of "hell," confronting demonic foes along the way. Today's footage highlighted several iconic characters from the Warriors universe, including Zhou Yu, Nobunaga Oda, and Sunshang Xiang.
According to the PlayStation Blog, you can recruit and add various characters to your team over time, enhancing your strategic options with additional summoning abilities. Players can deploy up to seven active heroes in combat, with a roster of 100 warriors available at launch today.
Koei Tecmo has plans to expand the character lineup post-launch, starting with additions from the Jin kingdom in Dynasty Warriors. The developer hinted at future updates that may even include characters from outside the Warriors series.
Warriors: Abyss is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It's also slated for release on Nintendo Switch on February 13, 2025. Those eager to snag the in-game Dynasty Warriors Costume Set should purchase the game before March 14, 2025.
