Conquering the Lifer in Wuthering Waves 2.0
Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to defeat this formidable foe.
Locating the Lifer
The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or use the Flight function to reach it.
The Lifer's Board Game
Inside, players encounter a board game with six pieces. The goal is to connect three of your (black) pieces before the Lifer (white) does. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. You can exit and resume the game at any time, preserving piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Avoid winning before removing buffs, as the Lifer will immediately attack.
Removing the Lifer's Buffs
The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance, while three are permanent. View buffs via the glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (Fragility):
- Growing Loneliness: Recovers 10% Max HP per second after 2s of inactivity.
- Desire for Escape: Increases ATK by 25%, further increasing DMG by 25% every 20s.
- Impending Stalemate: Increases ATK by 20% per DMG instance (stacks to 4). Stacks reset after 6s without dealing DMG.
- Decay of Time: Grants 200% resistance to all elemental types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and increases Max HP by 25%.
Permanent Buffs (Stability):
- Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
- Endless Game: Reduces Immobilization duration by 50%.
- Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP in a single hit.
Use the Sensor near the Lifer to locate four purple lines leading to Stakes of Imbalance in outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a winged statue and a glowing white Stake of Imbalance. Place each Stake in the corresponding module to remove a buff. The purple line turns yellow upon successful buff removal.
Defeating the Lifer
After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer (either via the board game or "Fight it out!"). The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker. Its attacks pose minimal threat.
Rewards for defeating the Lifer:
- First Victory: Premium Supply Chest
- Second Victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
- Third Victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests
You can re-enable buffs for a greater challenge, but no achievements are tied to this.
Lifer Achievements
- The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
- The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat three times).
- Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
- Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.
For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's lines. It will eventually make a mistake.
