Rumor: Halo: MCC and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Headed to PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025
A recent report from industry insider NateTheHate suggests that Halo: The Master Chief Collection may be making its way to the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The same source also claims that Microsoft Flight Simulator, potentially the recently released MFS 2024, is slated for a multi-platform release on these consoles. Both titles are reportedly targeting a 2025 launch.
This follows Microsoft's February 2024 initiative to bring first-party titles to other platforms. This initiative already includes Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, Sea of Thieves, and arguably As Dusk Falls. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched on non-Xbox platforms in October 2024, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle expected on PS5 in Spring 2025.
The potential expansion of Halo to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles is significant, representing a major shift in Microsoft's gaming strategy. NateTheHate's claims are further supported by another insider, Jez Corden, who tweeted that "way more" Xbox games will be released on PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025, suggesting the end of the era of exclusive Xbox titles.
This multi-platform push is further solidified by Microsoft's ten-year commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo consoles, a deal likely awaiting the release of the more powerful Switch 2 to fully realize its potential.
