Fortnite Switch 2 Unveiled: 60FPS, Enhanced Resolution, Mouse Support

Epic Games has officially shared the technical specifications for the enhanced version of Fortnite launching on the Nintendo Switch 2, and one of the most exciting updates is the addition of mouse support in an upcoming patch.

As expected, this new iteration of the popular battle royale game delivers a significant performance boost. Players can now enjoy a smooth 60 frames per second (FPS), along with improved resolution—reaching 2176x1224 when the Switch 2 is docked, and 1600x900 while undocked.

Thanks to the upgraded hardware of the Nintendo Switch 2, the game also supports enhanced graphical features. These include increased draw distance for longer sightlines, dynamic clothing physics, and improved textures, shadows, and water rendering—making every firefight more visually immersive.

One of the standout additions is the inclusion of Replays, a feature previously missing from the original Switch version of Fortnite. Now you’ll be able to review your last moments and finally identify which opponent took you down. However, the Save the World mode will still not be available on Switch platforms, as it has never been offered on Nintendo consoles.

The next major Fortnite update, version 37.00, is set to roll out this Saturday, June 7, and will introduce full mouse control support once Epic makes it live. By default, the mouse will replace the right analog stick, while the Joy-Con 2’s optical sensor will handle camera movement.

To celebrate the launch of Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch 2, players who log in between now and March 31, 2026 will receive the exclusive Wishing Star emote. According to Epic Games, it lets you “grab a shooting star, make a wish, and throw it back!” It may not let you ride into the sky, but it’s definitely a stylish move. And yes, it’s a subtle nod to Kirby—perhaps a hint that more Nintendo-themed content could come in the future.

Fortnite is already available on the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch, as the console rolls out globally. The game is currently in the final stretch of its Star Wars: Galactic Battle season, which will conclude this Saturday with a one-time live event where players infiltrate the Death Star itself.
