Dark Fantasy RPG From Ex-Witcher Devs Unveiled

Bandai Namco Entertainment, the publisher behind Elden Ring, has partnered with Rebel Wolves, a Polish studio founded by former Witcher 3 developers, for the global release of their debut action RPG, Dawnwalker. This AAA title, slated for a 2025 release on PC, PS5, and Xbox, is a story-driven dark fantasy adventure set in a medieval European backdrop.

The Collaboration Between Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco

The partnership, announced earlier this week, positions Bandai Namco as the worldwide publisher for the Dawnwalker saga. The game, aimed at mature audiences, promises a rich narrative experience. Further details are anticipated in the coming months.

Rebel Wolves, established in 2022, boasts a team with extensive experience and a vision to elevate the RPG genre. Tomasz Tinc, Rebel Wolves' chief publishing officer, highlights the synergy between the studio's values and Bandai Namco's commitment to narrative-driven RPGs. Alberto Gonzalez Lorca, Bandai Namco's VP of business development, views Dawnwalker as a significant addition to their portfolio, strengthening their presence in the Western market.

A Witcher 3 Legacy and a New Franchise

Dawnwalker, helmed by creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz (lead quest designer on The Witcher 3) and narrative director Jakub Szamalek (a nine-year CD Projekt Red veteran), represents a new IP for Rebel Wolves. The game's scope is projected to be comparable to The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine expansion, offering a non-linear narrative with player agency and replayability. Tomaszkiewicz emphasizes the team's dedication to creating a game with diverse choices and opportunities for experimentation.
