Mortal Kombat 1 Dataminer Discovers Animations for Hara-Kiri Fatalities — and They Could Be Coming as Quitalities

Author : Charlotte Update:Feb 22,2025

A Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer has uncovered strong evidence suggesting the addition of Hara-Kiri Fatalities, rebranded as Quitalities, in a future update.

Redditor InfiniteNightZ released a video showcasing animations that strongly resemble Hara-Kiri Fatalities. Hara-Kiri finishers, initially seen in Mortal Kombat: Deception (2004), allow defeated players to perform a self-inflicted fatality. The video, titled "Hara-Kiri & Exit Animations (- Liu Kang / Conan)," is available on Reddit (u/InfiniteNightZ). The presence of Hara-Kiri animations for recently added DLC characters like Ghostface strengthens the belief that these animations are intended for inclusion, rather than being scrapped. InfiniteNightZ stated, "After seeing that they're adding it to the downloaded roster now, I think it's highly possible."

InfiniteNightZ further hypothesized that these animations will be implemented as Quitalities, aligning with their designation within the game's code. Quitalities, rapid finishers triggered by player quits in multiplayer matches, are a series staple. "They are listed as Quitalities, there's still hope," InfiniteNightZ noted.

Following InfiniteNightZ's discovery, prominent Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer Interloko unearthed additional Hara-Kiri animations, confirming their existence. Interloko's tweet (February 16, 2025) indicated that only Omniman and Conan might be missing these animations.

While this evidence is compelling, it's crucial to remember that neither NetherRealm Studios nor Warner Bros. Games has officially announced Quitalities for Mortal Kombat 1.

The recent addition of a secret fight featuring Floyd, the pink ninja, and the community's collaborative effort to decipher his unlock conditions, has reignited interest in the game. Fans eagerly anticipate the arrival of the T-1000 guest character and the possibility of further DLC, though confirmations remain pending.
