Silent Hill f a 'Completely New Title' That 'People Who Have Never Played the Series Can Enjoy,' Konami Says

If you're a fan of the Silent Hill series, you're in for a treat. Konami has officially confirmed that the upcoming entry, Silent Hill f, will stand alone as a fresh narrative, untethered from the previous games' continuity—a direction reminiscent of Silent Hill 2. This new chapter will be set in 1960s Japan, offering a completely independent storyline that even newcomers to the series can enjoy.

Unlike some earlier titles in the series, Silent Hill f doesn't hinge on prior knowledge of the franchise. Its story unfolds in a distinct era and location, focusing on the life of Shimizu Hinako, a young woman grappling with societal pressures. The narrative is crafted by Ryukishi07, renowned for his work on the When They Cry visual novel series. In fact, this marks the first time a Silent Hill game has received an 18+ rating in Japan, though ratings may still shift during development.

In terms of content, previous Silent Hill games have earned various age ratings, with most falling under CERO:C (15+) in Japan. However, Silent Hill f aligns with mature ratings across different regions, such as Mature in the U.S., PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO:Z in Japan.

While Silent Hill f continues its development journey, fans remain curious about another anticipated title, Townfall from No Code, which remains shrouded in mystery for now.
