Astroweather is built upon the robust data from 7timer.org, which has been refined to offer specialized astronomical weather forecasts. This includes detailed information on sunset and sunrise times, as well as moonrise and moonset, ensuring you can plan your sessions with precision.

Our platform leverages web-based meteorological forecast products, primarily sourced from the NOAA/NCEP-based numeric weather model known as the Global Forecast System (GFS). This ensures that our users receive accurate and reliable weather predictions to optimize their stargazing opportunities.

7Timer! was initially launched in July 2005 as an experimental product, supported by the National Astronomical Observatories of China. It underwent significant upgrades in 2008 and 2011 and is currently maintained by the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The founder, a dedicated stargazer, developed this tool to combat the frustrations of unpredictable weather conditions.
