Mackenyu Arata as Gennojo
Known for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in the One Piece live-action series, Mackenyu will provide both Japanese and English voice acting for Gennojo in Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in feudal Japan. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a key character who aids the protagonist in eliminating a significant target.
Ubisoft further characterizes Gennojo as a captivating, impulsive, and conflicted individual, driven by guilt to reform a corrupt system. He's described as a charming rogue, a trickster with wit, deception, and confidence. His strong sense of justice, particularly towards the vulnerable, fuels his willingness to risk everything to achieve his goals.
While the exact point of Gennojo's appearance remains undisclosed, his importance to the game's missions is confirmed. Mackenyu himself reveals Gennojo belongs to a group called the "Shinobi League" and can essentially be recruited as a companion throughout the player's journey.
