How to Beat and Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

While pursuing your quest, a fierce battle between Rey Dau and another monster erupts in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Unfortunately, the enraged Rey Dau sets its sights on you and your hunting party.

Rey Dau, the first dragon you'll face in Monster Hunter Wilds, possesses the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning attacks. However, it's vulnerable to ice and water. Its head boasts a 4-star weakness, making it a prime target. The wings (3-star weakness) also offer a good opportunity to inflict damage. Avoid its sturdy torso; targeting its tail is a viable alternative if headshots prove difficult. Its legs are well-protected, so avoid focusing on them. For status ailments, utilize all except Stun and Paralysis (stunning a lightning dragon is futile).

Use a Flash Pod

Employing Flash Pods is a highly effective tactic. The temporary stun they inflict provides crucial openings for well-timed attacks. When Rey Dau unleashes its lightning attack, capitalize on the opportunity to strike its glowing red horns (enter Focus Mode for better visibility) for significant damage.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

For increased survivability, equip gear that enhances elemental resistance. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill (reducing damage and offering resistance to lightning and fire), is an excellent choice. Consider also consuming a meal that boosts elemental resistance.

If dodging proves challenging, maintain proximity to Rey Dau's legs. The monster primarily attacks areas in front of and behind it, minimizing your exposure near its legs.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau's flight patterns will shift the battle location. In the open plains, utilize the Vine Traps on the lone tree to briefly stun the monster. Exercise caution near its nest, however, as it employs a powerful follow-up lightning attack in that area.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Rey Dau offers alternative rewards. Reduce its health to near-death (look for the skull icon on the mini-map). Then, deploy a Pitfall Trap (Shock Traps are ineffective against lightning dragons). Quickly follow up with a Tranquilizer to secure the capture. Time is of the essence here!
