Bloodlines 2 Devs Reveal Game-Changing Mechanics

This new developer diary for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 showcases exciting gameplay footage, focusing on the mechanics of vampire hunting and maintaining the Masquerade.

In the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, vampires must conceal their true nature from humans. This is represented in the game by a Masquerade meter, which tracks actions that violate this secrecy. The meter has three levels, indicated by an eye icon at the top of the screen:

  • Green: Minor infraction; simply hiding will suffice.
  • Yellow: Multiple violations, such as feeding or using aggressive powers. Players must deal with witnesses or avoid attracting police attention.
  • Red: The Masquerade is broken, and the police are pursuing the player. Escape and concealment are crucial, as the Camarilla will intervene once the meter fills completely, as shown in the provided video.

Players can reduce their "infamy" by making witnesses forget their actions or, alternatively, eliminating them. If the police are involved, the best strategy is to hide and wait for the situation to de-escalate.

The developers emphasize that the risk of exposure escalates as the game progresses. Maintaining the Masquerade requires swift and decisive action from the player.
