Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl Actress Michelle Trachtenberg Dies Aged 39

Michelle Trachtenberg, the actress known for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, has passed away at the age of 39. The Post reported the news, citing police sources who stated the death is not considered suspicious.

ABC News reported that Trachtenberg's mother discovered her deceased on Wednesday in her New York City apartment near Columbus Circle. Reports suggest she recently underwent a liver transplant and may have experienced subsequent complications. ABC News added that authorities believe the death was from natural causes, with no foul play suspected. An autopsy is pending to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Trachtenberg's career began at age nine with a role in the 1990s Nickelodeon show The Adventures of Pete & Pete. Her film debut followed in 1996's Harriet the Spy. She achieved widespread recognition for her portrayal of Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2000-2003), Buffy Summers' younger sister. Other notable roles include Jenny in the 2004 comedy EuroTrip and Casey Carlyle in the 2005 film Ice Princess. More recently, she starred as Georgina Sparks in the popular teen drama Gossip Girl (2007-2012), reprising the role in the HBO Max sequel series.
