Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration
Treyarch is marking 115 Day with a wave of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the exciting reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This annual January 15th event brings a comprehensive blog post detailing upcoming zombie-themed surprises.
The highlight is undoubtedly The Tomb, a desert-themed Zombies map launching with Season 2 on January 28th. This follows Season 1's Citadelle des Morts, adding another thrilling location to the Zombies universe in under two weeks.
Treyarch's narrative summary explains that following the events of Citadelle des Morts, Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya heed Gabriel Krafft's final instructions, leading them to an excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact. This ancient site, with origins potentially dating back to 2500 B.C.E., remained undisturbed for centuries until the early 1900s, hinting at mysteries yet to be unearthed.
The Tomb's gameplay is described as reminiscent of Liberty Falls, offering compact play areas focused on replayability and hidden Easter eggs. The team also teased a reimagined Wonder Weapon drawing inspiration from previous titles and the return of a classic SMG, keeping specifics under wraps for now.
Season 2 promises significant quality-of-life improvements, including highly requested features. These include tracking up to 10 Calling Card and 10 Camo challenges across Zombies and Multiplayer modes. A co-op pause function for Zombies is also included, allowing the party leader to pause mid-game. Furthermore, separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be implemented, and players will be able to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadouts if disconnected.
To celebrate 115 Day, players can enjoy double GobbleGum earn rates and double XP for players, weapons, and the battle pass until 10 AM PT on January 21st. Treyarch also shared data on the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing over 480 million hours played in Black Ops 6 Zombies. The team highlighted the mode's success in more than doubling the average Main Quest completion rate.
The upcoming release of The Tomb will be particularly noteworthy given the recent voice actor recasting of some beloved Zombies characters, acknowledged by Activision last month in light of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
