The iconic RPG, Breath of Fire IV, has been resurrected on PC, marking a triumphant return 25 years after its initial release. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, followed by a European release in 2001, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. This classic title follows the adventures of Ryu, a protagonist who possesses the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a band of warriors, Ryu embarks on a quest to thwart an emperor's destructive ambitions and save the world.
As part of its ongoing Preservation Program, GOG has meticulously updated Breath of Fire IV for contemporary PCs, offering it DRM-free on their platform. The revamped edition is optimized for modern systems, ensuring compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. Players can enjoy the game in both English and Japanese, with enhanced graphics courtesy of an upgraded DirectX renderer. Additional display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction further elevate the visual experience. The audio has also received an overhaul, with missing environmental sounds restored and new configuration options added.
