Honkai Star Rail's upcoming update introduces significant changes to how players engage with the story and characters. Version 3.4 brings new tools: Dialogue Skip and Story Summary. Read on for all the details.
In the recent Developer Radio update, the developers announced these upcoming features. Dialogue Skip and Story Summary are designed for players who prefer faster gameplay or are dissatisfied with the game's pacing.
The skip function divides conversations into individual paragraphs, allowing you to jump past them in sections rather than sitting through entire scenes. Skipping also displays a summary of missed content, including key characters and events, so you can keep up with the plot even when fast-forwarding.
However, this feature does not apply to cutscenes or open-world exploration dialogue. For now, Story Summary covers Amphoreus, Jarilo-VI, and Herta Space Station, with other regions added later in Version 3.6.
Players often spend over 30 hours reading everything in areas like Amphoreus. Later, it may feel like the story could have been told in a quarter of that time with better delivery.
In essence, adding a skip function may not improve narrative quality. Given the game's recent developments, this is a candid observation.
What Other Features Are Coming?
In a later update, Version 3.6 will include a Story Recap feature. It lets you re-experience completed Trailblaze Missions, Trailblaze Continuances, and Companion Missions with optional dialogue choices.
You can even replay cinematics. Rewinding combat or exploration won't be possible, so it focuses strictly on the narrative. A potential advantage is getting another chance to revisit unvoiced dialogues resulting from specific development choices.
