Civ 7 Devs Consider Bringing Back Past Civilizations and Their Leaders

Hope remains alive for fans of Gandhi in Civilization 7. In an insightful interview with IGN on February 13, 2025, lead designer Ed Beach shared that while Gandhi may not be part of the initial release, there's a possibility he could return as part of future DLC.

During the IGN interview, Beach elaborated on the decision to omit certain civilizations and their leaders from the base game. "We haven't forgotten about anyone who's been in our game before," Beach stated. "There's a lot of discussion about the absence of Great Britain or England, and why they aren't included in our game."

The exclusion of Britain and India from Civilization 7 stems from the need to make room for new and exciting civilizations. "There are just too many popular choices, and we always want to introduce a few fresh ones that excite people," Beach explained. "So, some civilizations are left out, but we're always looking at the bigger picture, planning when to bring leaders or civilizations back into the fold. So, there's still hope for Gandhi."

Given the extensive history of DLC releases in Civilization 6, it's reasonable to anticipate that Gandhi will eventually make his way into Civilization 7. However, the precise timeline for his return remains uncertain at this point.
