Great news, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 fans! Clair Obscur isn't just the abbreviated title of developer Sandfall Interactive's hit RPG — it's the name of an entire franchise.
"Clair Obscur is the franchise name. Expedition 33 is one of the stories we plan to tell within this universe," creative director Guillaume Broche shared with MrMattyPlays (via TheGamer).
"It's still too early to reveal the exact details or concept, but one thing is certain: this is not the conclusion of the Clair Obscur franchise."
If that wasn't clear enough, Broche also discussed his approach to "writing sequels," making it evident that a follow-up title is in development. Stay tuned for updates.
In IGN's 9/10 review of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, we called it a "modern RPG classic," noting: "In so many ways, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 evoked memories of numerous classic and contemporary RPGs I adore, but developer Sandfall truly grasped what makes those games exceptional and made every borrowed element uniquely its own."

Sandfall recently released Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 update 1.4.0, introducing major features like a Battle Retry option along with numerous quality-of-life enhancements, visual upgrades, and bug fixes. However, the studio hasn't detailed what to expect in the next update, only assuring players that “more content is on the way.”
