Main quests can be intense, especially when they involve sneaking through unknown areas under time pressure. In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the quest "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is a perfect example of this. Here's a detailed guide to help you navigate and complete this challenging mission successfully.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 For Whom the Bell Tolls Walkthrough
The quest "For Whom the Bell Tolls" follows immediately after "Wedding Crashers." You find yourself imprisoned in Trosky, where Hans is slated for execution once the bell tolls 12 times. Fortunately, Henry is assigned to labor around the castle instead of remaining in prison, providing a slim window of opportunity to rescue Hans.
Hauling Sacks
Screenshot by The Escapist. Your first task is to haul sacks to a shed. This is a mandatory step, so grab a sack from the wagon and take it to the shed beside the fenced area. Place the sack inside and repeat the process until you've fulfilled this objective.
Help the Blacksmith

Gather the necessary materials and create the horseshoe. Once it's approved, deliver it to the stables by following the path where you hauled the sacks.
Help Fanka the Cook
Screenshot by The Escapist. After delivering the horseshoe, it's time to aid Hans. Return to the forge to retrieve a lockpick from the red pot on the shelves. Then, engage with Fanka, the nearby cook. Offering to help her grants you access to the noble's kitchen. Accompany Fanka to the kitchen; while you don't need to lockpick for her, doing so boosts your reputation and allows future kitchen visits.
Speak with the Chamberlain
Screenshot by The Escapist. Upon entering the kitchen, you'll notice the chamberlain suffering. Speak to him and persuade him to let you prepare a Digestive Potion. Success grants you access to the surgeon's workshop. If you fail to convince him, you'll need to sneak in.
Make Fever Tonicum
Screenshot by The Escapist. If you couldn't persuade the chamberlain, use food from the kitchen to distract the guard and sneak into the workshop. Otherwise, he'll grant you access directly. Navigate to the stairs opposite the forge and enter the common kitchen. If sneaking, bribe the guard with food to clear your path. Ascend the stairs to the hall with two doors; the right one leads to the surgeon's workshop. Here, craft the Fever Tonicum and, if you helped the chamberlain, a Digestive Potion as well, using the ingredients in the chest.
Cure Thomas
Screenshot by The Escapist. If aiding the chamberlain, return with the Digestive Potion to gain permission to help Thomas. For those sneaking, one final route remains. Return to the noble's kitchen and use the stairs to avoid additional guards. Stay crouched as you ascend, and when you spot a guard at the base of the stairs leading to Thomas' room, toss a pebble to distract him. Sneak past him and proceed to Thomas' room, where you'll find him bedridden with his sister, Adele. Hand her the Fever Tonicum to trigger the concluding cutscene.
This is how you complete "For Whom the Bell Tolls" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. Helping Thomas before the 12th bell tolls increases your reputation, though the quest outcome remains the same either way.
