With the release of Days Gone Remastered on the horizon, Sony's Bend Studio has unveiled a range of exciting accessibility features set to enhance the gaming experience for players of all abilities. One of the standout additions is the Game Speed adjustment, allowing players to slow down the action to 75%, 50%, or even 25% of the normal pace. This feature, as explained by Bend Studio's Creative & Product Lead Kevin McAllister in a recent PlayStation Blog, aims to alleviate the pressure during intense gameplay moments, particularly when facing hordes of Freakers. "Game Speed is ideal for players who might feel overwhelmed in certain situations or have difficulty with various inputs in high pressure moments, specifically fighting off hordes of Freakers," McAllister noted. This adjustment is particularly timely with the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode in the remastered version, making the thrilling combat experience more accessible to a broader audience.
Beyond the Game Speed feature, Days Gone Remastered is packed with additional accessibility options. Players can customize subtitle colors, engage High Contrast Mode, utilize UI Narration, and benefit from Collectible Audio Cues. The auto-complete QTE option, which was previously limited to the Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II. Bend Studio has also confirmed that most of these new accessibility features will make their way to the PC version of Days Gone, although some, like feedback and customization control options, will necessitate a compatible controller.
Announced back in February, Days Gone Remastered not only promises enhanced accessibility but also comes with additional features like an improved photo mode, permadeath and speedrun options, and more. This remaster of the beloved 2019 post-apocalyptic zombie action-adventure game set in a biker-centric world is eagerly anticipated by fans. Mark your calendars for April 25, 2025, when Days Gone Remastered will be available. Those who already own the PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 remastered version for just $10, ensuring everyone can enjoy the enhanced experience.
