Hidden Deltarune Dialogue Revealed Through PlayStation Trophy Challenge

The release of Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 last week has sent players scouring every pixel for Toby Fox’s signature hidden details and cryptic narrative clues. Their efforts uncovered an exceptionally rare dialogue sequence—one that demands completing all four chapters on PlayStation without unlocking a single trophy.

A Warning About Spoilers

Note: While this article avoids major Deltarune plot spoilers, it does mention general trophy conditions. If you prefer going in completely blind, you might want to skip ahead!

Secret Chapter 4 Credits Text on PS4/PS5 (Trophies) by u/millsbuddy in r/Deltarune

As shared by Reddit user millsbuddy, PlayStation players receive unique text in Chapter 4's credits only if they finish the game without earning any trophies—even accidentally. Notably, this check persists through save deletions; once a trophy unlocks on a PSN account, the special text remains permanently unavailable.

The challenge sounds straightforward but proves surprisingly brutal. Many trophies trigger effortlessly—like those awarded for taking damage, equipping armor, interacting with chairs, or even just opening treasure chests. Others activate via multiple mechanics, increasing the odds of accidental unlocks. The four chapter-completion trophies can be bypassed using secret items, but everything else requires meticulous avoidance.

Trophies debuted alongside Chapters 3 and 4, exclusively on PlayStation. Fox explained in a newsletter that Sony mandates trophies for paid releases—while hinting at the ridiculousness of this hidden task:

"We were required to have TROPHIES! This time, they give rise to a pretty hard-core challenge. But—PLEASE listen—I make no endorsement that you actually attempt it! Even knowing of its mere existence will only bring you frustration and anguish! Honestly, it may be one of the worst ideas I've ever had. Perhaps no one will even try. Maybe that's for the best after all... I think it will be too late for most of you anyway..."

For those unwilling (or unable) to attempt this madness, here’s the mysterious text—warning: stop reading now if you consider this a spoiler!

INTERESTING. YOU FAILED TO ACHIEVE ANY MARKS. WHAT ARE YOU? "(playername)" I VERY MUCH LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT.

The voice appears identical to the cryptic narrator addressing players at the game’s start—and again in standard credits sequences under different conditions. Speculation about its identity runs wild among fans, though Fox remains characteristically silent.

With Chapters 3 and 4 now live, our 9/10 review praises Deltarune’s "hilarious charm, unforgettable characters, and iconic soundtrack," declaring its unfinished story already essential.
