Donkey Kong is back! Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, a remastered version of the 2010 Wii classic, launches today exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. This 2D side-scrolling platformer delivers a challenging and inventive gameplay experience. Only the standard edition is available, but it includes the complete game. Note that Amazon pre-orders haven't been typical for recent Switch releases; expect to find it at launch.

What is Donkey Kong Country Returns HD?

This isn't the first re-release; the game initially debuted on the Wii in 2010 and later on the 3DS in 2013 (with eight exclusive levels). This HD version combines all original Wii levels with the added 3DS content.

Known for its challenging gameplay, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD offers both the original difficulty and an easier mode (from the 3DS version) featuring extra hearts and assistance. Expect classic platforming action: leaping across gaps, swinging on vines, barrel blasting, banana collecting, and more. Two-player couch co-op is also available after unlocking Diddy Kong.
