Summary

  • Nvidia has released new footage of Doom: The Dark Ages.
  • The 12-second teaser showcases the game's diverse environments and the iconic Doom Slayer.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages is slated for release on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC in 2025.

Nvidia's latest hardware and software showcase unveiled new footage for the highly anticipated Doom: The Dark Ages, a 2025 release confirmed to be enhanced with DLSS 4. This sneak peek offers fans a closer look at the game's world.

Initially announced at last year's Xbox Games Showcase, Doom: The Dark Ages is the next installment in id Software's successful Doom reboot series, following the 2016 title. Building on the legacy of the original Doom games and the critically acclaimed 2016 reboot, Doom: The Dark Ages promises to deliver the franchise's signature brutal combat while showcasing visually stunning and diverse environments.

Nvidia's raytracing showcase included 12 seconds of gameplay, highlighting the variety of Doom: The Dark Ages' levels, ranging from opulent hallways to desolate craters. The iconic Doom Slayer makes a brief appearance, showcasing a new shield. Nvidia's blog post confirmed the game is "powered by the latest idTech engine" and will feature ray reconstruction on the new RTX 50 series PCs and laptops, promising exceptional visuals.

The showcase also featured CD Projekt Red's upcoming Witcher sequel and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the latter receiving praise for its visuals, combat, exploration, and voice acting. This showcase precedes the launch of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 50 series, which will empower developers to further enhance visual quality and performance.

While a precise release date remains unannounced, Doom: The Dark Ages is scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC sometime in 2025. Further details on the game's story, enemies, and combat are expected as 2025 progresses.
