- Playing as Companions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you primarily play as the Wanderer, striving for peace. The main story offers various choices, often with companions joining you in battle. These companions are powerful allies, and controlling them can be significantly more effective than playing as the Wanderer. Here's how to switch characters:
Switching Characters in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Character switching is only possible during battles where you have a companion. Before a battle, the companion selection is the last option in the war council menu. You can choose to fight alone, but you cannot directly select a companion beforehand. Once the battle starts, your companion's health bar appears below yours in the bottom right corner.
Below the health bar is a blue bar, similar to your Musou gauge. This fills as you fight, faster with:
- Parrying attacks
- Perfect dodges
- Assaulting officers
- Utilizing Weapon Arts
Most combat actions gradually fill this bar. Once full, a "Change Character" button appears beside it. Press and hold this button (View button on Xbox, C on PC, or Touchpad on PlayStation) for about a second to switch.
Playing as Companions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching characters is best utilized during intense battles. Companions are exceptionally strong, but control is temporary (approximately one minute). The blue bar, once used to initiate the switch, gradually depletes, indicating the remaining time. Your new character starts with full Bravery and a range of effective combat arts.
The character switch initiates with a powerful attack. Aim carefully! Your companion also has a full Musou gauge and health bar, allowing immediate use of their special attack.
