EA Open-Sources Four Command & Conquer Games

Electronic Arts has made a momentous decision, releasing the source code for four legendary Command & Conquer titles: Command & Conquer, Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Command & Conquer: Renegade, and Command & Conquer: Generals. Now available on GitHub under an open license, this move empowers fans and developers to delve into, modify, and enhance these cherished classics.

Furthermore, EA has integrated Steam Workshop support for newer Command & Conquer games utilizing the SAGE engine, including Kane's Wrath and Red Alert 3. This allows players to easily create and share custom content, igniting a flourishing community-driven environment.

Although EA isn't actively developing new Command & Conquer games at this time, the series remains incredibly popular with dedicated fans. By open-sourcing the code and bolstering modding capabilities, EA is enabling enthusiasts to revitalize the series and potentially attract a new generation of players eager to experience—and contribute to—the rich history of Command & Conquer.
