EA has introduced microtransactions to its upcoming Skate title during the latest alpha test, ahead of an official release date announcement.
As reported by Insider Gaming, developer Full Circle has integrated microtransactions into the ongoing closed alpha for EA's free-to-play Skate revival.
Players can now use real money to purchase San Van Bucks, a virtual currency that unlocks cosmetic items. Full Circle appears to be testing Skate's in-game purchase system, aiming to offer players a smooth and satisfying shopping experience in the Skate store.
"We greatly appreciate your feedback, as it will help us deliver a better experience at the Early Access launch," the team added.
According to Insider Gaming, Full Circle has informed testers that all progress will be reset prior to the early access launch, and any previous purchases will be refunded as San Van Bucks when early access begins.
The early access launch for Skate is scheduled for 2025. The game was originally announced during EA Play back in 2020, though at the time it was described as being in very early development. Since then, Full Circle has regularly updated the community through closed playtests of early builds and development insights shared via "The Board Room" video series.
In 2022, the developer confirmed the game would simply be titled 'skate.', along with the news that it will launch as a free-to-play title on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
