Elden Ring is set to make its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 with the highly anticipated Tarnished Edition. This version promises to bring a host of new features, including additional character classes and fresh appearances for the beloved steed, Torrent. FromSoftware unveiled these exciting updates during the "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" held in Tokyo on May 6, as reported by Famitsu.
The Tarnished Edition introduces two new character classes: the "Knight of Ides" and the "Heavy Armored Knight." While details are sparse beyond their names and appearances, these classes will come with two of the four new armor sets included in the edition. The other two armor sets will be obtainable within the game itself. Additionally, FromSoftware teased the inclusion of new weapons and skills, adding even more depth to the Elden Ring experience.
For fans of Torrent, the spirit horse, there's good news: three new appearances for Torrent will be available in the Tarnished Edition. This edition also encompasses the Shadow of the Erdtree content. However, FromSoftware has confirmed that these new features will not be exclusive to the Switch 2. They will be available on other platforms through the Tarnished Pack DLC, which is expected to be priced affordably, according to RPG Site.
The introduction of new classes is particularly intriguing, especially for players starting fresh on the Switch 2. It offers a chance to experiment with different playstyles right from the start, which could be appealing to those who have already explored Elden Ring on other platforms.
Elden Ring's impact cannot be overstated, having surpassed 30 million sales worldwide. This monumental success is likely to grow further with its arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2.
While no specific release date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Switch 2 or for the Tarnished Pack DLC, both are slated to launch sometime in 2025.
