In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players can embark on a side quest titled "For Science!" This quest, triggered through interactions with NPCs in The Zone, involves activating a second measuring device atop a silo. Completing it grants access to the STC Malachite facility.
Initiating "For Science!":
To begin, locate Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. He'll contact Skif via radio, prompting a meeting. Head left from the elevator, ascend the stairs, and vault the railing to reach Mongoose. He'll explain the need to activate a second device and initiate the quest upon acceptance.
Reaching the Silo's Summit:
Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Dispatch any rodents encountered. Climb out a broken window and descend the external ladder to the silo walkways. Equip your boltcaster to navigate electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo to activate the device. Activating the device will attract Bloodsuckers. Eliminate or evade them to return to Mongoose.
Confronting Mongoose:
Upon returning, Mongoose will explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose or accept the reward peacefully. Both choices yield the Malachite pass, allowing access to the STC Malachite. Choosing the peaceful option also provides additional in-game currency. The pass is useful unless already obtained through the main storyline.
