Original Frostpunk Remade Using The Unreal Engine
Frostpunk developer 11 bit Studios took to Twitter (X) on April 24 to announce their next venture, Frostpunk 1886. This isn't just another sequel; it's a complete reimagining of the original game, leveraging the power of the Unreal Engine.
The announcement highlights a brand-new Purpose Path, the long-awaited mod support, and more, all designed to honor the legacy of the original while pushing the boundaries of what's possible. In a detailed Steam post on the same day, the developers shared their vision for this ambitious project.
11 bit Studios is transitioning from their proprietary Liquid Engine, used for the first game, to the Unreal Engine. Having developed Frostpunk 2 with Unreal Engine 5, they recognized the untapped potential for the original game.
