Galaxy-Inspired Zelda Fan Creation Captivates Fans

A recent online video cleverly transforms The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom into a Super Mario Galaxy experience. Released in May 2023, Tears of the Kingdom—the sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild—is the latest in Nintendo's acclaimed Zelda series. Its quality, like its predecessor, is frequently compared to other Nintendo hits such as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and various Super Mario titles. This fan-made video highlights the surprising similarities between Tears of the Kingdom and one specific Mario game.

Reddit user Ultrababouin's video, "Super Zelda Galaxy," expertly blends elements from the 2007 Wii classic Super Mario Galaxy with Tears of the Kingdom gameplay. The edit, nostalgic for many, even recreates Super Mario Galaxy's iconic opening sequence.

Ultrababouin shared their month-long project on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit, a community dedicated to Tears of the Kingdom creations. The video was an entry in their June design contest. Ultrababouin is a seasoned builder, previously crafting a Tears of the Kingdom version of the Master Cycle Zero and earning "Engineer of the Month" accolades in December and February.

While the Master Cycle Zero from Breath of the Wild is absent in Tears of the Kingdom, the new game's robust vehicle-building system has inspired incredible creations. Hyrule Engineering member ryt1314059, for instance, even built a functioning aircraft carrier capable of launching a bomber.

The next Zelda game, Echoes of Wisdom, launches September 26th. A significant departure, it features Princess Zelda as the protagonist instead of Link.
