GTA 6 Set to Earn $1.3 Billion on Launch Day

Author : Dylan Update:Apr 23,2025

GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 actor Ned Luke has reassured fans that GTA 6 is worth the wait and made bold predictions about its sales. Dive in to discover what to expect from GTA 6 and its development journey.

Rockstar Games to Do Something Unexpected for GTA 6

GTA 5 Actor Expects GTA 6 to Make $1.3 Billion on Its First Day

GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, has predicted that GTA 6 will rake in a staggering $1.3 billion on its first day. In a conversation with the YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming game, stating that it will be fantastic due to Rockstar Games' penchant for surprises.

"What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing," Luke affirmed. He pointed out that GTA 5 managed to earn over $800 million within its first 24 hours back in 2013, and confidently predicted that GTA 6 would surpass these figures significantly.

According to DFC Intelligence, GTA 6 is projected to sell over 40 million copies and generate $3.2 billion in its first year, with $1 billion expected from pre-orders alone.

The Future of GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6

GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day Luke also shared insights into the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and possibly in GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, has not been featured in GTA Online since its inception, unlike Trevor and Franklin, who have appeared.

Luke hinted at the possibility of Michael appearing in a speculated final DLC for GTA Online or even making an appearance in GTA 6. Meanwhile, Steven Ogg, who voiced Trevor in GTA 5, discussed with ScreenRant in January 2025 his ideal scenario for Trevor in GTA 6, which involves a dramatic "passing the torch" moment by getting killed early in the game.

"Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy," Luke remarked. Despite the actors' enthusiasm to reprise their roles, no official confirmation has been made regarding the characters' appearances in GTA 6.

GTA 6 May Be in Its Testing Phase

GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggested that GTA 6 is likely in its in-house testing phase. In a now-deleted video interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, as reported by GamesRadar, York highlighted the unique unpredictability of GTA 6 compared to other open-world games.

"There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't," York explained. He believes that GTA 6 is currently undergoing in-house testing, with the team still adding final touches and extras.

York also speculated that the game is at least playable at this stage, suggesting that numerous testers might have already experienced it.

Rockstar Games unveiled the first trailer for GTA 6 in December 2023, but has since remained tight-lipped about further details. Earlier reports hinted at a Fall 2025 release based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 Financial Report, yet no official release date has been announced.
