Following Psychonauts 2, Double Fine has been hard at work on a new game unveiled at today's Xbox Games Showcase. It's called Keeper, and it places you in the wobbly legs of a sentient lighthouse powered by a whimsical-looking bird.
The footage shows a goofy bird landing on top of a lighthouse, which then grows spindly legs and begins trudging across the continent, with the bird apparently guiding or controlling its journey. It’s still unclear what the lighthouse is seeking, why or how it can walk, or the nature of its bond with the bird—but the world it roams is undeniably fantastical, in the dreamlike style of other Double Fine titles.Strange as it sounds, we’re excited for Keeper after Double Fine’s previous work. We gave Psychonauts 2 an 8/10, with our reviewer noting that its "weird and wonderfully written story is full of interesting, nuanced characters that I instantly fell in love with," and that "Double Fine has also done a great job of expanding this universe toward both grander and more intimate threats without losing the joyous childhood adventure vibes of the original."
Keeper launches on October 17 for PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC.
