Stealth is Paramount: Your primary tool is your sense of smell. Activate the scent button to locate nearby animals, indicated by animal icons. A meter appears when you crouch, showing how close you can get before the animal flees. Movement directly impacts this meter.
Movement Strategy: Your speed dictates how quickly the meter fills. Sprinting fills it instantly; running significantly impacts it; trotting is slower; walking is the slowest and ideal for approaching your target. Wind direction also matters. Downwind spooks animals faster, crosswind is moderate, while upwind offers the best approach.
Reading the AI: A question mark occasionally appears above the animal icon. Moving while the question mark is visible accelerates meter filling; stop moving until it disappears.
The Chase: The meter will fill before you reach the AI. Be ready to sprint once it flees. AI movement is unpredictable, so practice in open areas with minimal obstacles for clear sightlines.
Securing the Kill: Get extremely close to bite your prey. Drop and eat it, then repeat the hunting process until satisfied.
