Let the demon hunting begin. Netflix is bringing the beloved video game series Devil May Cry to life with an anime adaptation, and fans have been treated to a thrilling new trailer. The excitement doesn't stop there; the legendary late voice actor Kevin Conroy will posthumously star in this new game adaptation, adding another layer of anticipation.
Conroy, renowned for his iconic portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman in numerous animated films and TV shows, lends his voice to a new character, VP Baines. His voice can be heard in the opening of the trailer, marking another posthumous performance following his acclaimed role in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3 in July 2024. Conroy's untimely passing in November 2022 at the age of 66 left a void in the voice acting community, and his inclusion in Devil May Cry offers fans another chance to appreciate his remarkable talent.
Joining Conroy in the cast are Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo, and Johnny Yong Bosch as the protagonist, Dante.
According to the official synopsis from Netflix, "Sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck."
Adi Shankar, known for his work on films like the 2012 Judge Dredd reboot, Killing Them Softly, and The Voices, will serve as the showrunner for the series. Shankar is also attached to an Assassin’s Creed adaptation, though its release remains uncertain since its announcement in 2017.
The animation will be handled by Studio Mir, a respected South Korean studio with a portfolio that includes The Legend of Korra and X-Men ‘97. Devil May Cry is set to premiere on Netflix on April 3, 2025, promising fans an action-packed journey into the world of demons and hunters.
