开发商Warhorse工作室已明确表示，《王国之泪2》不会使用任何数字版权管理（DRM）工具，此举是为了回应玩家此前关于游戏将集成DRM的传闻。在最近的Twitch直播展示中，Warhorse工作室的公关主管Tobias Stolz-Zwilling澄清说，KCD 2不会使用Denuvo DRM，并回应了开发者持续收到的关于该工具的误解和“错误信息”。

Tobias表示：“KCD 2将不会包含Denuvo，也不会使用任何DRM系统。我们从未确认过这一点。当然，之前有过一些讨论，也存在一些误解和错误信息，但最终KCD 2将不会有任何Denuvo。”

他还补充说，请玩家停止向开发者发送关于游戏使用DRM的询问：“我希望你们就此结束讨论，停止在我们的每一个帖子下询问‘游戏里是否有Denuvo？’”。他补充说，“只要Warhorse没有宣布任何消息”，关于KCD 2的任何传闻都是“不真实的”。

DRM经常与游戏性能问题联系在一起，因此玩家对其在游戏中的集成感到担忧。特别是Denuvo的使用，它也作为一种反盗版软件来保护游戏的代码，并不总是被玩家接受，尤其是在PC玩家中，因为有人声称该DRM工具会使游戏在某种程度上无法运行。

Denuvo的产品经理Andreas Ullmann也回应了该工具收到的批评。在一次采访中，Ullmann表示，游戏社区对Denuvo的负面看法源于错误信息和确认偏差，并补充说，对其使用的强烈抵制非常具有破坏性。

《王国之泪2》将于2025年2月登陆PC、PS5和Xbox Series X|S平台。游戏背景设定在中世纪的波希米亚，讲述了铁匠学徒亨利的故事，他的村庄遭遇了毁灭性的命运。在KCD 2的Kickstarter众筹活动中，至少捐赠200美元的粉丝将获得游戏的免费副本。
