Pokémon GO Leak Hints at Dynamax Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno Raids
A now-deleted tweet from the official Pokémon GO Saudi Arabia Twitter account prematurely revealed the arrival of Dynamax Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno in upcoming Dynamax Raids. The event is reportedly scheduled for January 20th to February 3rd.
This leak marks the first appearance of Dynamax legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO since the introduction of Dynamax forms in September 2024. The Kanto legendary birds, already popular raid encounters with Shiny variants available, are set to return in this new, powerful form. This follows the introduction of the Galarian bird trio in Daily Incense spawns (and their Shiny forms since October 2024).
The swift deletion of the announcement suggests the information was released ahead of schedule. The inclusion of these iconic legendaries in Dynamax Raids could potentially boost participation in Max Battles, which have faced criticism for difficulty and reliance on large groups of players. Previous Max Raids in October encountered player backlash due to challenges in coordinating 40 players for each battle. Whether this will be an issue with the Dynamax legendary birds remains to be seen.
This potential Dynamax raid event adds to a busy start of 2025 for Pokémon GO. Confirmed events include a Community Day Classic featuring Ralts on January 25th, a Shadow Raid Day with Shadow Ho-Oh on January 19th (offering up to seven free Raid Passes), and the announcement of host cities for Pokémon GO Fest 2025 (Osaka, Jersey City, and Paris). The addition of Dynamax Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno suggests that other iconic legendary Pokémon may receive the Dynamax treatment in future Max Raids, mirroring the Dynamax forms seen in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
