Solo developer Jo Drolet has announced the upcoming launch of Lhea and the Word Spirit, an enthralling new single-player roguelite. In this game, you'll take on the role of guiding lost souls through mysterious realms, striving to seal the ominous In-Between. With the guidance of an ancient Word Spirit, you'll navigate the delicate balance between life and death, all set against a backdrop of minimalist yet captivating visuals and a unique "timeline battle system."
In Lhea and the Word Spirit, players can look forward to manipulating the timeline of battles to advance, using a variety of enchanted rings that can be equipped and upgraded. Customizing these rings not only grants access to different spells but also unlocks hidden secrets, helping you uncover the truth behind the In-Between. The roguelite nature of the game ensures that no two runs are the same, as you adapt different strategies across the procedurally generated realms.
*“I wanted to create this charming minimalistic world about life and death with the hope that players lose track of time and feel enspirited by this dance between unexpected discoveries, strategy flow, and heartwarming music,”* says Jo Drolet.
Lhea and the Word Spirit is set to launch in August, but eager fans can get a taste of the game during the Steam Next Fest from June 9th to the 16th. If you're looking for similar experiences to tide you over until then, check out our list of the best roguelikes on Android.
