Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (MGS Delta) debuts its fresh multiplayer offering, Fox Hunt, succeeding the original game's Metal Gear Online. During KONAMI's June 12 PRESS START livestream, Fox Hunt director Yu Sahara shared insights about the team's innovative approach.

Sahara describes Fox Hunt as "a completely original multiplayer experience" that exists within MGS Delta's universe while delivering distinct gameplay. This departure from Metal Gear Online, which debuted with MGS3: Subsistence on PS2, signals a bold new direction.

"While we deeply appreciate Metal Gear Online's loyal fans," Sahara explained, "today's multiplayer landscape demands new thinking." The team focused on evolving camouflage mechanics and hide-and-seek dynamics to create something truly unique.

He added, "We wanted to break away from conventional shooter mechanics. The tension between stealth and pursuit creates an online experience that could only come from Metal Gear."

The original Metal Gear Online and its iterations featured traditional competitive multiplayer across various Metal Gear titles. Sahara promised more in-depth revelations about Fox Hunt in upcoming announcements.

Xbox Exclusive Mode Confirmed: Snake vs. Bomberman

Konami previously announced the PlayStation 5 and Steam exclusive return of "Snake vs. Monkey" mode. Meanwhile, Xbox players will enjoy their own unique crossover with "Snake vs. Bomberman," teased in earlier promotional material and confirmed in the latest Xbox gameplay trailer.

The trailer description teases: "Command Snake in explosive showdowns against Bomberman across special challenge stages. Outmaneuver and outblast your way to victory!"

Konami delivers both a reverent remake of this classic title and fresh content for modern platforms. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches August 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For ongoing updates, explore our additional coverage.
