Microsoft Announces Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct in June

Author : Stella Update:May 12,2025

Microsoft has solidified its plans for June, confirming an Xbox Games Showcase 2025 as well as a The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. The company typically hosts a June showcase to unveil upcoming Xbox games, and 2025 will be no exception. The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 is scheduled to be livestreamed on Sunday, June 8, starting at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK time.

The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will provide an exciting glimpse into the future of gaming, showcasing upcoming titles from Microsoft’s first-party studios as well as incredible new games from third-party partners around the world.

Xbox Games Series Tier List

What might Microsoft reveal at the showcase? The company has an impressive lineup of games in development, including the highly anticipated new Fable, recently delayed to 2026, the Perfect Dark reboot, inXile’s Clockwork Revolution, Ninja Gaiden 4, Contraband from the developer behind the Just Cause series, Rare's Everwild, The Coalition's Gears of War: E-Day, Hideo Kojima’s OD, and Undead Labs' State of Decay 3. Double Fine, the developer of Psychonauts, is also crafting a new game.

On the Activision Blizzard front, fans can look forward to a new Call of Duty game later this year, along with various releases from Blizzard. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is set to launch in July, potentially making an appearance at the showcase.

Bethesda fans are eagerly awaiting news on the next steps for Starfield, including a possible PlayStation 5 release date confirmation, and perhaps a sneak peek at The Elder Scrolls 6.

Additionally, there's always the chance that Microsoft might unveil new Xbox hardware. Rumors suggest a next-gen Xbox console and an Xbox handheld are slated for release in 2027, although this year's showcase might be too early for such announcements. However, Microsoft may discuss Xbox-branded handhelds from third-party companies.

Following the success of the 2023 Starfield Direct and 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, Microsoft will follow the Xbox Games Showcase with The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. Developed by Obsidian, fresh off the release of Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will offer an inside look at Obsidian Entertainment, featuring new gameplay, details, and developer insights directly from the creators of the acclaimed first-person sci-fi RPG. The Outer Worlds 2 is slated for release later in 2025, and fans can likely expect a release date announcement during the showcase.

The Xbox Games Showcase followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will be available in the following local time zones:

  • PDT: June 8, 10am
  • EDT: June 8, 1pm
  • BST: June 8, 6pm
  • CET: June 8, 7pm
  • JST: June 9, 2am
  • AEST: June 9, 3am

Microsoft has confirmed that both the Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will be digital-only events, meaning there won't be a theater experience for fans and media this year. However, Microsoft promises that the livestream will deliver all the essential information about what's next for Xbox, accessible to viewers worldwide.
