The Ultra franchise commemorates its 60th anniversary next year, prompting Tsuburaya Productions to unveil a major celebration initiative. Dubbed the Ultra Series 60th Anniversary Project, the program is designed to further expand Ultraman’s enduring legacy. A key component of the project is a new mobile game titled Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch.
What Type of Game Is Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch?
Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch is a match-three puzzle game for mobile devices. It is scheduled for a global launch on Android and iOS in 2025, though it will not be available in mainland China or European Union member nations.
The game’s story unfolds on the distant planet Milanos, located in deep space. Players will meet more than 60 characters, including Ultra Heroes and their kaiju adversaries. This roster spans multiple generations, featuring characters from the Showa era all the way to the current Reiwa era.
Players can look forward to encountering legendary figures such as Ultraman, Ultraman Tiga Multi Type, Ultra Seven, Alien Baltan, Gomorrah, and Zetton. The game is being co-developed by MetaField and StudioZ, both of which are subsidiaries of the Tsuburaya Group.
Celebrating Six Decades of Ultraman
Ultraman made his television debut in July 1966 on the show Ultra Q, captivating audiences with stories centered on courage, hope, and compassion. The Ultra Series 60th Anniversary Project is scheduled to unfold over approximately two and a half years. In addition to the new mobile game, plans include a new television series, live stage events, digital content, and a wide range of merchandise.
The decision to develop a match-three puzzle game may come as a surprise to some fans. Will this genre effectively convey Ultraman’s epic, action-packed appeal? That remains to be seen. An official release date has not yet been announced. In the meantime, you can visit the official website for additional details and updates.
