Player First Games announced the bittersweet news that MultiVersus Season 5 will be its last, bringing the curtain down on the Warner Bros. platform fighter on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. The studio detailed the discontinuation of support in a blog post on their website. Launched on May 28, 2024, MultiVersus will enter its final season, Season 5, on February 4th, concluding its run in May 2025. Online play will cease at that time, but Player First Games assures players that all earned and purchased content will remain accessible offline via local and training modes.
The MultiVersus team expressed their gratitude: “Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus. All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”

Real-money transactions for MultiVersus ended January 31st, 2025, although Gleamium and character tokens can still be used to acquire in-game content until the game's official shutdown on May 30th. The game will also be delisted from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store at that time.
This closure follows reports of MultiVersus' underperformance for Warner Bros. Discovery. A November financial call revealed the game significantly missed expectations, resulting in a $100 million writedown for the games sector, adding to a $300 million total after the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Further compounding the situation, Variety reported that Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad departed the company last week.
"We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline,” stated chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels during the November call.
Despite the impending shutdown, Season 5 will provide a fitting finale. In addition to standard seasonal updates, new playable characters Lola Bunny and Aquaman will join the roster. Lola Bunny will be unlockable via a daily calendar reward, while Aquaman will be available through the battle pass, both launching next week.
