Locating Filler Metal in NieR: Automata
This guide details how to obtain the rare upgrade material, Filler Metal, in NieR: Automata. Two methods exist: scavenging in the Factory or purchasing it later in the game.
Method 1: Finding Filler Metal in the Factory
Filler Metal is a rare, randomly spawning item found deep within the Factory area. Its location varies with each playthrough, making farming it unreliable. The spawn rate is low compared to other items.
To maximize your chances:
- Access Point: Utilize the "Factory: Hanger" access point for faster traversal once unlocked. This requires progressing through the main story. You may need to unlock this access point again depending on your story progress.
- Exploration: Thoroughly explore the Factory, collecting all naturally spawning items. Movement speed boosts can slightly improve efficiency, but consistent farming remains challenging.
Method 2: Purchasing Filler Metal
A more reliable (though expensive) method involves purchasing Filler Metal from the Shopkeeper Machine in the Amusement Park. However, this option only unlocks after completing all three playthroughs and obtaining one of the final endings. Using Chapter Select to revisit the Shopkeeper after completing the game will reveal Filler Metal in its inventory, priced at 11,250 G each.
While costly, this method offers a guaranteed supply, crucial for upgrading Pods to tackle high-level enemies. Consider this the most efficient approach once you've completed the game.
