Updated ESRB Ratings Hint at Imminent Doom 64 Release for PS5 and Xbox Series X

Recent updates to the ESRB ratings suggest a potential upcoming release of Doom 64 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. While neither Bethesda nor id Software have made an official announcement, the updated ratings, listing Doom 64 for these platforms, strongly indicate a near-term launch. This follows a pattern of the ESRB revealing game releases before official announcements, as seen with Felix the Cat's re-release in 2023.

The 1997 Nintendo 64 classic, Doom 64, received a remastered port for PS4 and Xbox One in 2020, featuring graphical enhancements and a new chapter. This enhanced version also launched on Steam. The new ESRB ratings don't explicitly mention a PC release, but given the 2020 precedent, a PC port remains a possibility. Furthermore, modding communities already offer ways to experience Doom 64-like gameplay within other classic Doom titles.
