Nintendo Confirms 60-Minute Switch 2 Direct

The upcoming Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2 is set to be a comprehensive showcase, running for approximately 60 minutes. This extended duration suggests that Nintendo has a packed agenda for this eagerly awaited event.

Scheduled for April 2, 2025, at 6am PDT / 9am EDT / 2pm BST, the Nintendo Direct will provide a "closer look" at the Switch 2. This follows the initial reveal earlier in the year, which showcased the console's design, hinted at Mario Kart 9, and introduced a potential 'mouse' mode for the new Joy-Con.

Fans are hopeful that the Direct will unveil the full launch lineup of games for the Switch 2, along with a release date expected between June and September 2025. There is also anticipation for an announcement on the Switch 2's price, which analysts estimate might be around $400.

The gaming community is buzzing with speculation about the Switch 2's game offerings. A variety of third-party titles are rumored to be in development for the console. In an interview with IGN, the developer of Civilization 7, Firaxis, expressed interest in the Switch 2's Joy-Con mouse mode. French game and accessory maker Nacon, known for titles like Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City, has confirmed that they have games ready for the Switch 2. There are also rumors that the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong might make its debut on the new console. Additionally, EA has indicated that Madden, FC, and The Sims could be well-suited for the Switch 2.

In addition, Nintendo has scheduled a Nintendo Treehouse: Live | Nintendo Switch 2 presentation for April 3 and April 4 at 7am PT each day, where attendees will get to see hands-on gameplay of Switch 2 titles.
