A newly uncovered patent has sparked excitement among Nintendo fans, hinting at the development of a Ring Fit Adventure sequel for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Filed at the end of May 2025 and recently published online, the patent—unearthed by Nintendo Patents Watch—lists "video game controllers (accessories)" as its category, with all accompanying images currently redacted.
The patent is officially owned by Nintendo, with Fumiyoshi Suetake named as the lead designer. This detail stands out, as Suetake played a pivotal role in creating the original Ring Fit Adventure, the fitness RPG released in 2019 that has sold over 15 million copies worldwide. The game launched alongside a unique ring-shaped accessory that players compress and stretch during gameplay to simulate exercise movements.
Suetake’s involvement strongly suggests this new patent could be tied to an upgraded or next-generation Ring Fit controller. Further supporting this theory, Nintendo recently extended the existing patent on the original Ring Fit Adventure hardware—an indication the company intends to continue developing and protecting related technology.
Adding to the speculation, Foxconn, a major manufacturing partner for Nintendo, has revealed it's working on advanced "force sensing technology" for a prominent gaming company. Accompanying documentation includes a diagram resembling an evolved version of the Ring Fit Adventure device, reinforcing the idea of a modernized fitness accessory in development.

Together, these developments point toward a potential Ring Fit Adventure sequel launching alongside the Nintendo Switch 2. Given the original game’s success—even amid pandemic-driven demand—it would be a strategic move for Nintendo to revisit this beloved franchise with enhanced hardware and gameplay.
"Ring Fit Adventure offers an inventive fitness RPG that doesn’t quite have all the moves," IGN noted in our review, highlighting its "fun and challenging blend of exercise and RPG mechanics."
